Executive Board 2019-2020

Allie Akers   State Executive President  A senior from Creedmoor, Allie Akers is the founder of the Voyager Academy High School Democrats, as well as the founder and president of Granville County High School Democrats. She also served as the 2018-2019 NCATD Vice President of Membership. She is very active in 4-H, where she has held several leadership roles, participated in countless service projects, and competed in public speaking competitions. Allie’s other extracurricular activities include being a Granville County teen court prosecutor, co-founder and leader of Voyager Academy’s GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance). She has been passionate about politics for as long as she can remember, always focusing on equality. She formed a Women’s History Club at the age of nine, participated in the 100th Anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington D.C., and created Speak Against Harassment, a zine where she invites people to share their stories and how we can work on overcoming harassment. She has volunteered with the Granville County Democrats and Durham Democratic Women. Allie hopes to study constitutional law and become an attorney, and eventually President of the United States and a Supreme Court justice.

Daniel Vargas   State Executive Vice President  Daniel Vargas is a rising sophmore from Knightdale, North Carolina. In the 2018 midterm election, Daniel began volunteering as a poll greeter. Later, the Wake County Democrat Party aided him in the founding of a Knightdale High Teen Democrats chapter, and he was elected president of his high school chapter. He later contributed to the building of his county chapter. He is honered to work with such talented people to build NCATD.

Daniel Vargas is a rising sophmore from Knightdale, North Carolina. In the 2018 midterm election, Daniel began volunteering as a poll greeter. Claire Tandoh   State Executive Vice President of Communications  Claire Tandoh is a rising senior from Charlotte, North Carolina. Kendyl currently serves as a council member on Governor Roy Cooper’s Youth Advisory Council where she works in Raleigh with state officials and the Department of Administration to encourage young people to become civically engaged through youth and citizenship programs. Aside from political work, Kendyl is president of her school’s Model United Nations club, president of the regional student government organization Lake Norman Teen Council, and an active volunteer of Teaching Tolerance, an inclusive learning program promoting equality in the classroom. After participating in a yearlong internship at a local law firm, she aspires to attend law school to become an attorney.
