September 11, 2026: An Official Statement Commemorating those lost on 9/11/2001
25 years ago today, nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives in the largest terrorist attack our nation has ever witnessed. Every year, as we reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001, it is crucial that we never forget their valiance and sacrifice.
It is my opinion that the beauty of America derives from the fact that she is shaped by every person who has witnessed her excellence, no matter how large or small our contributions to this greatness. Today, we remember every person whose life was taken far too early on 9/11/2001 and each of their contributions to our great nation.
It is in their name that we must always honor every person who has sacrificed for the country we call home.
It is in their name that we must always strive to build a more perfect union.
It is in their name that we must always seek unity in the wake of division; good in the wake of evil; courage in the wake of fear.
It is in the name of everyone we lost on September 11, 2001, that we must never forget.
Our thoughts and love remain with everyone who suffered terrible loss and trauma on this day.

February 24th, 2026: An Official Statement Honoring Black History Month 2026
“In my mind, I see a line.
And over that line, I see green fields and lovely flowers and beautiful white women with their arms stretched out to me over that line, but I can’t seem to get there no-how.
I can’t seem to get over that line.”

Harriet Tubman’s words capture more than a physical boundary. That “line” represents every law that denied her freedom, every barrier built to confine her, and the system that aimed to define Black lives as less than. Each February, we honor those who refuse to accept that line
Black history teaches us that change has always required unity. From the abolition of slavery to the passage of the Civil Rights Act, from the March on Washington to the dismantling of segregation, collective action is what has shaped this nation. The progress we recognize today is proof of what happens when communities stand together for a greater purpose.
In recent months, intensified immigration raids and the actions of ICE have, for many, felt like an attempt to redraw those lines. Black History Month reminds us that every generation has faced its own version of that barrier. In 1965, during Bloody Sunday, peaceful marchers were met with violence for demanding the right to vote; A line was drawn to silence them, yet they refused to turn back.
As Black History Month comes to a conclusion and the 250th recognition of America’s progress approaches, let us not forget that this nation has moved forward only through the courage and resilience to step beyond the lines meant to divide us.

February 5, 2026: An Official Statement Remembering Former NCATD President Aron Johnson
The North Carolina Association of Teenage Democrats is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Aron Johnson, Chair of the NCDP Affiliated Organizations Committee and former NCATD president.
Aron was a leader and a person who constantly brought about good in his community: a bright, wonderful and kind person. NCATD would not nearly have been the organization we are today without Aron’s tireless effort and dedication. North Carolina has lost a good man.
We ask you to join us in keeping your thoughts and prayers with Aron’s friends and family.
Thank you, Aron, for your contributions, leadership, and service to our organization, state, and country. We will forever be honored to have had the opportunity to call you President, of the North Carolina Association of Teenage Democrats.

November 22, 2025: An Official Statement on ICE in North Carolina
As many already know, ICE has recently entered North Carolina. Candidly, I’ve struggled to write this. Watching innocent people detained, arrested, and abused in my backyard felt impossibly wrong.
In the United States of America?
We hear about governments inflicting pain like this. We study oppression of this manner in the history books. We read and learn about organizations and governments that the UN classifies as violating human rights. Yet, impossibly, this makes it all the more impossible to imagine that this oppression, violence, and horror aren’t just happening in our nation, the leader of the free world, but our neighborhoods.
It’s unlikely that anyone outside of North Carolina will truly comprehend the havoc that ICE and CBP have wreaked on our communities, our schools, and our immigrants—regardless of their documentation status. This means one thing: as North Carolinians, we are the only people who can stand up to this.
Every time I see a school walkout, a protest, a show of support to our marginalized communities, I’m proud. I’m proud to know that people, especially youth are willing to stand up. I see a future led by these great leaders that will fight for every person in our nation. Most importantly, I’m inspired. In times of trouble, you stood up. You fought for what’s right. And you’ve made a difference. So recently, in my capacity as President of NCATD, I've been on meetings with the members of the board of several school districts across the state, trying to figure out solutions. I'm happy to let you guys know that my proposed solution has been accepted and will be put in place by multiple school districts, with the potential to aid over 50,000 students across North Carolina.
If you are missing school because you are affected by ICE, you've been forced to sacrifice your education for safety. If you're still attending school, you may fear that you're sacrificing your safety for your education. I want you to know that our Teen Dems community will forever support you.
For all my students affected by ICE, feeling you are falling behind due to missing coursework, please reach out to me at ncatdpresident@gmail.com. Should you choose to accept it, I truly believe the confidential system we’ve developed and implemented will allow you to maintain your safety without compromising your education.
Yesterday, NCATD put out a Know Your Rights infographic. One of the most important, however, to young people, is this: legally, principals are not allowed to communicate with ICE and have no right to know your official immigration status: you need not communicate that with anyone. No matter your documentation status, you are forever entitled to public education.
In these times, it might not feel like it, but there's still hope. People are still listening to young people, because they have to—because we won't be silenced. The policies we advocated for, developed, and implemented, allow every student, if they feel emotionally able, to learn and receive their human right to quality education without sacrificing their safety.
Advocacy works. Walking out works. Protesting works. Never stop: they have real impacts, no matter how large or small. Before nearly every success in advocacy, there will be millions of failures and shortcomings: it's cliche, but true.
Don't give up on making a difference in your community because of failure. When you do, democracy loses. Our community loses. North Carolina loses. We can never let that happen. I will never let that happen. Fight for your passions, for what you love, for other people. Advocate for your neighbor, your classmate, and your colleague. The job's not finished, but we'll fight ICE until they stop encroaching on people's human rights. We'll fight the system until it's just. Because when we fight, we win.

November 11, 2025: An Official Statement Expressing Utmost Gratitude to our Veterans
Happy Veterans Day! As we go about our days today, and every other day, I ask each person reading this to reflect. Reflect on how veterans, whether you know one or not, have changed, and saved, our lives. The North Carolina Association of Teenage Democrats is forever grateful to every veteran and military official who has bravely sacrificed their livelihood for the safety of Americans and the sanctity of democracy.
To every American out there, no matter your political leaning, we must appreciate what veterans do - not just by thanking them, but by strengthening our democracy by voting, advocating, and most importantly, coming together. Our veterans have protected our democracy for the past 250 years, we owe it to them to work tirelessly to strengthen it.
To each and every veteran out there, your service means the world to each and every one of us. You are the cornerstone of the United States of America. You are a savior of democracy. You are a leader of the free world. Thank you for your service.

September 11, 2025: An Official Statement Commemorating Those Lost on 9/11/2001
As we mourn the valiant American heroes who gave their lives and lost loved ones on this tragic day, 24 years ago, I ask that we take a moment to recognize their bravery, their sacrifice, and their love for their country.
After the days of 9/11, our nation united in sympathy, love, and patriotism. In the wake of recent events and tragedies, including those in Colorado and Utah, it is with this sentiment of togetherness that I ask you to go about your daily activities. Think not of your neighbor as a Republican, a Democrat, or an Independent, but a fellow American.
To all of those who lost family members, to all of those who put their lives on the line, to all of those who survived, and to everyone who passed away, we will never forget you. Your contribution to this nation will forever be appreciated.

September 10, 2025: An Official Statement Denouncing Political Violence
In the wake of the horrible events that occurred on this day, September 10th, 2025, our prayers are with the family of Charlie Kirk, and all of the students of Utah Valley University.
We can disagree ideologically, on hundreds of different fronts, but never, never should we take to the violence exhibited today.
Today’s shooting was reprehensible and we utterly denounce everything about it. NCATD, we ask you to keep every victim affected in your thoughts and prayers.

August 30, 2025: An Official Statement Endorsing Governor Roy Cooper for US Senate
Governor Cooper has been steadfast in his devotion to serving the people of North Carolina. On a statewide level, he’ll have devoted 40 years of elected public service in our state this November.
Teen Democrats of North Carolina, we see no better future for this state than one where Roy Cooper represents us in the United State Senate.
This August, in a unanimous vote, your 2025-2026 Executive Board elected to endorse Governor Cooper. As he runs to fight for our state and country, let’s support him with everything we’ve got.
Let’s coalesce. Let’s unite. Let’s win.

June 1, 2025: An Official Statement in Honor of Pride Month
This June, as we gear up to celebrate Pride Month, I’d like to take a moment to recognize the resilience, tenacity, and unwavering dedication the LGBTQ+ community constantly showcases.
In spite of offenses on their humanity, the LGBTQ+ community has risen up and advocated for equality. In spite of historic struggles, the LGBTQ+ community has prevailed. As such, despite the current political attacks on their fundamental rights, I have utmost confidence that the LGBTQ+ community will prosper through undying tenacity and leadership.
Teenage Democrats are the youth. We are the leaders of the present. We don’t just shape the future, we are the future. As we face attacks on the humanity of our LGBTQ+ individuals, it is time to further pave the roads those who came before us laid out.
As we celebrate this June, let us recognize past leaders who strove for justice. Let us appreciate leaders of the present who fight for equal rights. Most importantly, let us work to pave a better future for all.
This Pride Month (and every other month of the year), I urge you, Teen Dems, as allies or members of the LGBTQ+ community, to provide support to your siblings, your neighbors, your peers, your fellow North Carolinians, and yourself.
To love the person of your choice is a fundamental right. To embrace your own identity is a human right bestowed upon all Americans by our Founding Fathers. Let us not rest until these rights are extended to every human, including every single LGBTQ+ person.
